The surroundings of our Tenerife hostel
Tenerife Experience Hostel is in a fantastic location, very close to La Granja Park and the bus station. It is a quiet residential area of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, but is only a 5 minute walk from the main leisure areas of the city. The location is ideal for relaxing as it is set back from the bustle of the livelier streets. The area is very well connected and has numerous nearby places of interest.
SERVICES
Right next to the hostel there is a pharmacy and an ATM. If you come by car or are going to rent a car during your holiday in Tenerife, we have private parking spaces for our guests. Ask at reception or when booking and we will tell you the conditions. The price is not included in the booking.
PUBLIC TRANSPORT
The Santa Cruz de Tenerife Transport Interchange is only a few minutes from the hostel. It is also known as Guaguas Station, with buses leaving from there for destinations across the island, including the two airports. Right next door is the interchange stop for the Tenerife tram line 1, which connects the city of Santa Cruz with La Laguna.
MERCADOS Y SUPERMERCADOSMARKETS AND SUPERMARKETS
The closest supermarket to Tenerife Experience Hostel is a Mercadona located just two streets away. The Market of Nuestra señora de África, commonly known as La Recova, is also nearby. It is worth visiting as it is in a pretty, neo-colonial style building and has an excellent atmosphere. On the upper floor there are stalls selling fruit and vegetables, meats, cheeses, breads…and on the lower floor there are fishmongers, where you can also eat, from midday until 5pm, as the stalls sell fresh fish dishes accompanied by cavas and white wines. The weekends are very lively.
PARKS IN SANTA CRUZ DE TENERIFE
Our hostel is almost next to La Granja Park, which has a young and sporty vibe. Recently a new skate park, designed by Daniel Yabar and measuring over 2500 metres, was opened in the park. A little further afield, about a 20 minute walk, is the García Sanabria Park, which is the most emblematic of Santa Cruz. With its exotic plants and tropical trees, it’s practically a botanical garden dotted with colour, where you can stroll among sculptures and flowers. Inside, there are various bars and restaurants, the most famous of which is Strasse Park, which is open from the morning until 1am.
SHOPPING
Close to our Tenerife hostel there are various options for shopping. On one side there is the Corte Inglés and El Meridiano shopping centre, which has the Yelmo cinema inside if you fancy ending a day by going to the cinema. On the other side, if you enjoy a stroll, is Calle Castillo, which is the main shopping street in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. There are many other smaller pedestrian streets branching off this street that also have shops, bars and restaurants.
LEISURE, BARS AND NIGHTLIFE
There are four main areas for going out in Tenerife, whether for a drink or to sit and chat on a terrace. El Chapatal, very close to the hostel, is a street with bars that are frequented by local people during the week. Avenida Anaga, opposite the Paseo Marítimo, has restaurants and cocktail and karaoke bars. Another place for going out is calle La Noria, a pedestrian street with various restaurants and cocktail bars. Finally, if you are looking for more alternative bars, you can head to calle Clavel.
